Growing up in New Jersey, John Brennan was a catcher on his high school baseball team. I suspect he had lots of collisions at the plate. But John is the kind of guy who would not flinch. He is old school. He’d work harder than everyone else and stand his ground when he believed he was right. His integrity is unassailable. There is nobody better prepared to run the CIA.
The U.S. withdrawal from two wars is a chance for the Administration to recast and rebalance civilian intelligence priorities. Brennan will have to focus on leading a very young group of capable men and women, aggressively growing expertise and ensuring they have the most innovative technology to enable their success.
He has the confidence of the President, and when it comes to intelligence, he knows what the CIA can and should deliver to policymakers. He will stand firm in protecting the country while inspiring and serving the men and women of the CIA.
