A humanoid robot, called Schaft, created by Google's acquired Japanese venture company Schaft Inc., comes down ladder at the U.S. military's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Robotics Challenge in Homestead, Fla., on Dec. 20, 2013.
A robot made by Schaft Inc., the Japanese start-up recently acquired by Google, took first place in a competition hosted by the Pentagon’s research unit Darpa. The competition aims to spur development of robots that can help aid workers in dangerous places. Schaft’s robot performed tests that included turning off valves and removing debris.
